The Louisiana Giving All True Opportunity to Rise (LA GATOR) Scholarship Program is the state's inaugural education scholarship account (ESA) initiative, established by the 2024 Louisiana Legislature under Act 1 and signed into law by Governor Jeff Landry on June 19, 2024. This program empowers parents to tailor their children's education by providing flexible funding for various approved educational services.

Application Process: For the 2025-2026 school year, the application window is open from March 1 to April 15, 2025. Parents can apply through the official LA GATOR website. Required documents include proof of residency, income verification (if applicable), the child's birth certificate, and Social Security Numbers for both the parent and student.
Program Rollout: The LA GATOR Scholarship Program will commence in the 2025-2026 academic year, pending legislative appropriation. It will replace the existing Louisiana Scholarship Program, which will conclude on June 30, 2025. Current participants of the Louisiana Scholarship Program will receive priority access to the LA GATOR Scholarship Program but must submit an application by April 15, 2025.
Support and Resources: The Louisiana Department of Education has partnered with Odyssey to manage the program's application process and marketplace. Odyssey provides a help desk, call center, and virtual chat support to assist applicants. Parents can access resources, information, and frequently asked questions on both the LA GATOR and Odyssey websites.
